Putting Indigenous Suppliers on Top

SWP Indigenous Services Group is committed to supporting the Indigenous Procurement Policy and increasing opportunities for indigenous businesses in Australia. We recognise the unique contributions that an indigenous business directs  to the Australian economy, so we commit to maximising opportunities for these businesses. SWPISG offers a range of programs and initiatives in place to support these businesses, including:

• Supplier Diversity Program - Provides opportunities for Indigenous suppliers to compete for contracts with SWPISG
• Supply Nation Certified Program - Helps Indigenous suppliers connect with buyers 
• Entrepreneurs' Infrastructure Program - Provides advice and mentoring support to Indigenous entrepreneurs

SWPISG is also a signatory to the Australian Business Declaration, which is a commitment by businesses to increase their spending with Indigenous suppliers. Through these initiatives, SWPISG creates opportunities for indigenous businesses to participate in the economy and help drive economic growth.

Supply Nation is the peak organisation for Indigenous businesses and suppliers in Australia. It connects Indigenous businesses with corporate and government members and provides programs and services to support their growth. To be eligible for membership, an Indigenous business must be:

• At least 50% owned by Indigenous Australian(s)
• A for-profit enterprise (not a charity)
• A company with an Australian Business Number (ABN)
• Registered with Supply Nation (if not already a member)
• Compliant with all relevant legislation, including but not limited to the Fair Work Act 2009 and the Work Health and Safety Act 2011
• Led and/or managed by a Principal Indigenous Australian Executive Officer
• Controlled by an Indigenous Australian responsible for making key business decisions on operations, finances, strategy and workforce.
• Trading as a business with a minimum annual revenue of $50,000.00 or with at least 6 months of trade history, ideally.
• Based in Australia

To become a Supply Nation member, potential members must go through an application and assessment process. This process includes providing supporting documentation to demonstrate compliance with the above eligibility criteria. Once an application is received, it will be assessed by Supply Nation's Membership Committee. If the Committee is satisfied that the applicant meets all of the eligibility criteria, they will be accepted as a member and added to the Supply Nation Directory.

Due to SWP Indigenous Services Group having only 50% or more Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander ownership (which caters for equal partnerships with non-Indigenous owners), we were able to complete our registration. However, to be Supply Nation certified, we must have 51% or more Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander ownership. Since we do not meet this criterion yet, will revisit this prospect soon.
